What Does It Cost?

The cost of your website will consist of two separate fees - The design fee and the hosting fee.  You may elect to have a domain name as well which includes a separate, yearly fee.

Design fees

     The design fee is the fee that we get for the actual formatting of your page.  It includes all of the necessary work to "build" your website.   We currently charge a flat rate of $40.00 an hour.  This fee applies to all services including photo scanning and retouching, logo design, sound or video preparation, and custom artwork.  Many website designers charge up to $100.00 an hour, and have additional fees for these "special" services.
     The actual cost to design your site is generally proportional to the size of your site.  Custom logos and photo retouching can take additional time, and will add to the overall cost.  I will give you an estimate of the cost after discussing your needs.  A rough guide however is to allow 3 hours for a very basic site with about 5 photos and a couple basic sub-pages.  The design fee is a one-time fee. 
     Once the bulk of your site is set up, changes and updates can then be made quickly - and therefore affordably.  Updates are billed at the same flat rate as the original design work.

Hosting Fees

     The hosting fee is a monthly fee charged by the company who's computer your page will be stored on.  We can work with a hosting service of your choice, or set your page up with a full-service host we've found to be reliable and very affordable.  Hosting fees start at $10.00 per month and can be less if prepaid for one year.  If you already use an Internet Service Provider ("ISP" - such as AOL, AT&T Worldnet, Microsoft Network, etc.), you may be able to host your site with them at little or no additional cost, however, these providers may not offer all the features your site will require.  We can also host your site on our server for just $100 per year.  (Having your site hosted on our server will make it easier for you to be indexed by search engines, than if you were to have your site on a server like geocities or aol.)

Domain Name Fee

     You may optionally choose to have a domain name added to your site.   A domain name is an internet address such as "www.yourname.com".   A domain name gives your site a more professional sounding image, and is also easier for folks to remember.  If you choose to go without a domain name, then your internet address will be something like www.hoofnet.com/yourname.  This will be the basic address for your site if you choose to have your site hosted on our server, though you can have your site hosted anywhere you prefer.  There is no additional charge to have a hoofnet.com address.  
     Domain names are administered by the InterNic.  You will be billed separately by them.  The fee is $70.00 for the first 2 years, then $35.00 each year thereafter.  Some Hosting companies may charge an additional fee to set up a domain name, W.F.H. does not!
